Alexis Karstaedt, MD, MBBCh
Dr. Alexis Karstaedt has returned to IVFMD as consultant in the Lifestyles Department.
Dr Karstaedt completed her medical training and residency in Family Therapy in South Africa. She worked in the Department of Psychiatry as an Assistance Research Professor at Mount Sinai hospital in NY. She worked diligently and has a Medical License in both New York State and Florida. She is certified by the American Board of Sexologists.
In 1994, Dr Karstaedt was recruited by Dr Navot to work with Dr Maria Bustillo in the Ovum Donation department at Mount Sinai IVF Clinic. In 1998, she joined Dr Bustillo and Dr Eisermann at South Florida Institute for Reproductive Medicine in the Third Party Reproductive Services Department.
Dr Karstaedt recognized that nutrition is the foundation for good health. Therefore in 2006, she studied medical weight management and nutrition. She became the Medical Director of South Florida Vitality MD. In this capacity she joined Obesity Medicine Association (formally the American Society of Bariatric Physicians), Center for Medical Weight Loss, Optifast Program, American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine and American College of Lifestyle Medicine.
She is passionate about creating a healthier life for all her patients by focusing on Lifestyle Medicine. She appreciates the challenges that her patients face and the difficulties they have in achieving optimal health. She teaches that while prescribed medications are important, medications alone without attention to diet and lifestyle, will not keep patients healthy.
Her positive “can do” spirit keeps her excited about life and her passion for health is contagious. She loves coaching people to success and motivates her patients every step of the way. You can count on her to “walk her talk” every day; she practices what she preaches. Dr Karstaedt enjoys keeping fit, plays tennis and being healthy. She volunteers and is a member of the School Board of Trustees.
