At SFIRM we perform IUI daily, including
on weekends, more than 1000 times yearly and for large variety of
clinical indications. Typically, an IUI is performed if testing reveals
a problem with natural sperm exposure at time of ovulation. This can be
caused by a variety of problems including:
Abnormal cervical mucus.
Poor sperm motility.
Low sperm count.
Positive sperm antibodies.
All patients undergoing ovulation
induction are offered this treatment to reduce discomfort and maximize
success.
Since we are able to offer sperm freezing,
the husband with a busy travel schedule, or living out of the country,
benefits from inseminating his frozen-thawed sperm at the time of
ovulation.
