Maria Bustillo, MD,
is a graduate of the Medical College of Wisconsin.
Dr. Bustillo completed her residency in Obstetrics
and Gynecology and a research fellowship in
Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility
at the Harbor-University of California at
Los Angeles Medical Center. Dr. Bustillo is
Voluntary Associate Professor at the University
of Miami School of Medicine. Dr. Bustillo
has been board certified in Reproductive Endocrinology
since 1983.
Dr. Bustillo has held numerous academic appointments
throughout her career, including Assistant
Professor in the Department of Obstetrics
and Gynecology at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center,
Division Director of Reproductive Endocrinology
and Infertility at both the Genetics and IVF
Institute in Virginia, and the Mount Sinai
Medical Center in New York City. Most recently,
Dr. Bustillo has been the Medical Director
of the Assisted Reproductive Technology Program
for the Center for Human Reproduction in New
York City.
Dr. Bustillo is a member of numerous
professional societies such as the
American Society for Reproductive Medicine
(ASRM), the Society of
Reproductive Endocrinologists, the Society
of Reproductive Surgeons, and the Society
for Gynecologic Investigation. Dr. Bustillo
served as president of the Society
of Assisted Reproductive Technologies
(SART), and the
GynecoRadiology Society and is a member of
the Editorial Board of the journal Fertility
and Sterility and the Journal of Assisted
Reproduction and Genetics. She is also an ad
hoc reviewer for other prestigious
peer-reviewed journals including Human
Reproduction, the American Journal of
Obstetrics and Gynecology, Obstetrics and
Gynecology, and the American Journal of
Reproductive Immunology.
Dr. Bustillo is widely recognized as a
pioneer in ultrasound guided egg retrieval
and uterine lavage for oocyte donation. She
has published over 100 articles
and abstracts in her areas of expertise
which include infertility, assisted
reproductive technologies, implantation
failure and recurrent pregnancy loss. Dr.
Bustillo has performed in excess of four
thousand
assisted reproductive technology
(ART) cycles while
advancing the field of ART with the
introduction of new concepts and
technologies. She was recently named as one
of the 401 Best Doctors for Women by Good
Housekeeping.
In addition to English, Dr. Bustillo, a
Cuban-American, is fluent in Spanish and
French.
